Has anyone made their own funeral arrangements? I have not, but it does sound like it might be fun, in a sick kind of way Think about it, you can pick the music you want to have played, who and where you want to be buried, how people should dress, the food that will be served, on and on and on,,,,,think I might have everyone come nude,,,wouldn't that be different

How long is appropriate to keep funeral floral arrangements? My boss passed away and some people sent flowers to the workplace, how long should i leave them out before taking them down? I don't want to be disrespectful and take them down too early, then again don't want to be tacky and leave them out too long.
Do you have pre-planned funeral arrangements? Someone from the cemetery called me yesterday to verify information about my preplanned funeral and burial arrangements. Chinese funeral arrangements in Florida? Anyone knows anything about it? Have you been through this experience before? I'm at lost as to what to do. My dad was a chinese buddhist and he just passed away. We're all Catholic, except for my mom. Here in the Tampa, Florida, such things could be a hassle as our community isn't that large. I wonder if there are service providers here that provide services like prayers, funeral arrangements, cremation advice, funeral related goods and stuffs, etc.
Have you written out instructions for your funeral arrangements ? When my mother died, my sister and I nearly came to blows over what music should be played....we were both just a bit stressed, and the choices we had to make just took us over the top. I decided that my kids wouldn't have to go through all that, so have written down a nice description of the sort of thing I'd like. I'm not a control freak, conducting things from the grave, so to speak....but just want them to be able to relax and say, well Mum wanted this and that. Have you done something similar ?
Help in funeral arrangements? I recently buried my father and was wondering if anyone knows where I can find a nice headstone for the grave site. I want one that is in arabic and english. Thank You and may Allah reward you greatly Inshallah. As salamu alaykum.
Trusting your family for Funeral Arrangements? What can you do to ensure that your funeral goes exactly like you want it? I remember that when my Grandfather died my grandmother had his entire funeral done catholic style...and My grandfather would have hated that...he wasn't catholic he was Pentacostal and he spoke many times to the rest of his family about how much he didn't want to have anything to do with the Catholic faith(my grandmother is catholic) So after seeing this how can I make sure this doesn't happen to me....I know a will could state your wishes but how can you be sure they actually go through with what you want. I mean your dead so it doesn't matter but seriously, I really want it to reflect me and not what my family wants. Any suggestions? This is a serious question...and yes I know that I will be dead and it won't matter.
Funeral Arrangements - List of What to Do Needed? I am looking for a website or a list you can write out that lists what to do when planning a funeral for a loved one. I have a website for pregnancy and infant loss. Right now I am working on a section called Putting Your Child to Rest. I want to create a practical down-to-earth easy-to-follow list for: a. funeral arrangements b. burial c. cremation d. memorial service e. other types of services. Any information you have or websites with such information I can pull from would be greatly appreciated. I looked online but found information about planning your own funeral and that is not quite what I am looking for. Just FYI: I am not actually planning a funeral but am looking for information to pass onto others.
I want to learn how to make funeral arrangements? I want to learn to make funeral arrangements. I am an apprentice funeral director and my boss has been doing roleplaying with me...like giving me different scenarios to deal with and then planning out a funeral based on that specific scenario. Are there any pointers/tips/suggestions to help make my transition into the position of "arranger" easier? I understand the arrangement process and know what needs to be done but going about getting it done and tactfully seems to be the hard part. Any suggestions... (side note) I have not yet been allowed to make arrangements with an actual client yet....and that will happen soon, so comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!!
UK- Is the money spent on funeral arrangements taxable to the estate? (when someone dies) Does someone get a certain amount tax free to spend on funeral arrangements? Or is any money spent on funeral arrangements tax free? If any amount is tax free, would money spent making your ashes into a diamond be tax free too? Or would the value of the diamond be taxed? (though i am not sure a diamond made of ash is particularly valuable on the going market as no one else would really want it?) Yeah, another fun Saturday question... er, sorry! fengirl, what if the diamond is not sold? um i meant "is the money spent on funerals subject to inheritence tax?" is the "value" of the diamond the money spent to make it or the going market rate if one sold it (whether or not its sold?)
What is the protocol for a Buddhist funeral? My dad's wife's brother passed away unexpectedly and I want to send flowers or something but am not sure what the Buddhist tradition is for paying respects. If I can do something to help the family with arrangements that don;t have to do with funeral arrangements, like buying supplies they may need to take to the funeral home or send the type of flowers normally at a Buddhist funeral, or maybe even donate money to the temple on the decease's behalf. But I don't want to do anything to offend anyone either. Any suggestions?
Not sure what to do with Wake/Funeral arrangements? I recently lost a friend in an accident, but I wasn't exactly close friends with him (didn't hang out much). His wake is this Friday and his funeral the following morning. My girlfriend who also happens to know him through parties I've taken her to is planning some things. She's planning some floral arrangements as well as donation of money to go towards the funeral (he was young and married). I kept thinking about how certain things should be considered such as one's relationship with the departed and in turn how they contribute. I just feel like she's going a bit overboard (don't mean this in a bad way) considering her relationship with him. Wouldn't it be awkward? I'm afraid his friends and family will see what's being contributed and think "wait, who is she? do we know her?" What she wants to do is get me to tell all my friends about it who know him, and see what they think and if they can chip in -- but keeps saying that "she'd take care of it all". I just don't feel right. Help
When a family member dies who is financially responsible for the funeral arrangements? It's been one tough month for my Parents..3 weeks ago my mothers brother died. He was never married, never had kids and didn't have life insurance. So my Parents and my mothers sister paid for the funeral. Now Yesterday my mothers father passed away. My grandfather has my mother and my mothers sister who has to step forward to pay for the funeral yet again.. This is a sad and sensitve time but who is responsible for the funeal cost and arrangements? I am 22 and my husband is 24, My husband has Life insurance that would pay for the funeral arrangements/Final expenses etc. I a stay at home mom, I have life insurance too but not alot maybe 20K, enough to pay for my funeral if I was to die. But today alot of people are not getting life insurance for various reasons. My grandfather died, he has money saved up etc from the buiness he owened but he never had a will so no one can touch the money unless the courts say they can. My Grandfather has money but because of no will, his money cannot be touched. My Parents have money saved too but I was wondering if they didn't have money would it legally be my mothers responsibility since she is the next of kin.
A friend who owns a flower shop died yesterday. Where do I get the funeral arrangement? I been buying flowers every saturday from this local family owned flower shop for the past fifteen years or so. Throughout the course of my purchasing at the flower shop the owner and I have became close friends. She passed away yesterday. Should I send a funeral arrangement from their own shop or from another? Let's face it, people notice these things even in times of mourning. You may ask yourself, Don't you think they'll be too busy planning the funeral to be worried about your stupid arrangement? They have workers, other than the immediate family that assist in putting the arrangements together. I'm in a pickle!
About how much does a filipino funeral cost? I am from the United States and am planning to send money to some relatives to help with funeral arrangements but I am not sure how much to send or how much the funerals in the Philippines cost. Thanks for your help.
Where do I learn how to design floral arrangements? I'd like to go to work in a flower shop and I have some natural talent for flower arrangements but I'd like to learn other thinks like doing funeral arrangements and other stuff. Funeral Arrangements...Appropriate? I'm planning my step dad' funeral reception. It needs to start at like 430 pm. We don't have a home to do it in so a venue is going to have to work. Do we have to feed everyone? Is it tacky if we just did hors d' Oeuvres? What do most people do for the reception after the funeral. I am just tired of thinking about it and any personal experience would be great. Thank you.
a pet's funeral proper arrangements and ceremony? my Bunny died - On Easter!, i had him for more than half my life - and all my friends asked if i had a funeral but i said it was childish so i want to know how i would go about having a funeral for my bunny, Mintey.

How do I make sure my funeral is arranged by the person that I would like to? I live in the UK (Wales). I don't trust my blood family - they hardly know me, and they have some funny ideas about me, and refuse to even recognise my change of name. A friend and I have agreed that we would like to make legally binding arrangements for her to be the one to control the funeral arrangements and service in the event of my death - she lives in europe. Is there any way that this can happen... to make sure that it happens and that there is no chance of anybody else taking control of the funeral arrangements and deciding on the service in the event of my death other than my friend in europe? I've been told that I could name here as an executrix of a will, but that means more than just the funeral stuff, and I'm also worried that it would not be entirely binding, and if it was, I am worried that it could be ignored, depending on who finds the will. It should be noted that I can't afford to pay for my funeral in advance and pre-plan it - nor do I know what I wand... I know only what I don't want and I don't trust my blood family to avoid it... I wish to leave the decision on how it actually goes to my european friend.
Who should I have trusted with funeral arrangements? My mother died 5 weeks ago and I was not in a position to make clear cut decisions at that moment and a Deacon from a local church that my mother attended before she became ill offered to help and there were a few things things I would not have agreed to had I been thinking clearly. I am an only child my father died when I was 14 (about 11 years ago) 2 aunts (mother's sisters) did not offer to help and I did not want to impose. What should I have done? I can not take back what was done, but I may find some answers to help understand where I went wrong. Thank you all in advance.
in UK if no insurance when you die the state buries or cremates you what does that entail? Is there a funeral? I have no insurance can't afford it. my kids won't discuss but I want to be cremated and have my ashes scattered on the thames. Will this be possible if the state has to deal with my body after death? We have no savings or income which would cover any funeral arrangements so am more worried about that than I dare tell them. Does anyone know? wilfred b thank you for your valuable input and to others for trying to help as for those saying 'pay for it' and trying to make me feel worse about things - I am ill and have been to busy struggling to survive until now and raise a family alone so had no way to do anything about insurances (no one will insure you as a young mum who is ill. Over 55's get insurance but have to be paying 2 yrs and then does not cover pre existing ailments such as mine assuming you are going to survive as long as another 2 years.) all sick and disabled parents are not state scroungers, whenever I was well enough I worked and my family have all paid their dues as dues my teacher son (yes this 'scum' actually managed to get her boy through uni - and teacher training, more important than insurance at the time I thought) squigglekit, no home of my own so no back garden - still thanks for the suggestion. My carers dad is in her garden actually. itsasecret is also most reassuring and helpful, so many nice responses I will probably leave the choice of best answer to the community as otherwise would not feel good about it. thank you everyone Dot x
