Why do we keep on praying/asking God/Goddess for dead persons soul to rest in peace?are we hypocrite's ?
If Gods/goddess can not give a peaceful life to a cancer victim while he was alive, what makes you believe that god would let his soul to rest in peace? Is it only imagination?

- its something so that the prayer can better rest in peace. like, " oh i did my part. i made this dude rest in peace".
- I don't think "we" exist
- I dont...we cant help the dead....God will judge them..
- I love the way you reason. Right on!
- I love your question. most people won't read a word of the new testament but when someone dear to them died , they want that person to go to heaven. yes they are hypocrites because if they know that heaven is such a real place they would have done anything in their power to make sure they themselves end up there before they can wish someone else get there.
- That's the whole idea of Eternal Hope. That's what God has promised. If God is who He says he is, then He is capable of fulfilling them. Our life here on earth is corrupt, diseased, rotten, painful, and filled with evil. It is also temporary. It is a "rite of passage" that we must go through in order to appreciate what God offers. God offers an eternal, painless, pure, loviong and good existence WITH HIM, after we have traveled through this world. Note, though, a painless and peaceful eternal existence is an OFFER, not a right. Only those people that believe in God and accept that offer get to partake in it. Those that do not believe in God cannot believe in a peaceful eternal existence, because they believe there is no one to provide it. God does not provide that rest to those that do not believe.
- Once that person has died - they are no longer limited by their imperfect bodies that can carry disease. If someone was a good person in life, I certainly believe that the gods would offer their soul peaceful rest in the "afterlife" - no matter their religious choices being that religion is man-made. I don't believe the gods infect people with cancer as a means of punishing them in life. But that our bodies were created to only be temporary vessels for our souls and therefore are not infallible. The reason I would pray or ask the God & Goddess to ensure a loved one's peaceful rest is that that person's soul could choose not to cross over after their death and remain earthbound, which I do not believe is peaceful or restful for them - so I would ask that the God & Goddess assist that soul to find its way to where it belongs so that it would be at peace. The rest of the funeral stuff is more so for the living - to comfort them in their loss, to be able to be able to say goodbye to their deceased loved one and to come to an acceptance of the death. I don't see how my beliefs would make me a hypocrite.
- We are in this world; we should help where ever we can now. Help those who are still living. Probably when we die there will be beings ready to help us. I always encourage people to work positively with imagination.
- You cannot compare this frail body to the eternal soul given us by God the Father, we are not in this world to enjoy ourselves without regard to the hereafter, life after death is our true life in Christ which was intended from the beginning and was taken from us by the devil and the temptation of Eve, Cancer victims undergo terrible suffering which can be used to cancel temporal punishment on the other side in Purgatory, God does not wish cancer to be inflicted upon us He does not want us to suffer but even greater He does not want us to suffer the pains of Hell for eternity, Christ suffered and died for us and our sins, we have to follow in His footsteps and suffer the pains of this life as He did and to be with Him in Bliss for eternity.
- im sorry but i have to say this; but can you live knowing your grandparents are just dead and nothing else, do you not want thewm to enjoy eterenal peace, i know i do.
