Rest In Peace

in loving memory or rest in peace ideas?

I am trying to find just the perfect tattoo design to represent my grandfather who passed away 4 years ago. I have toyed with the idea of a broken heart with his initials inside and RIP.... but that sounds cliche... I don't want anything too intricate. I want something simple.. I plan on talking to my tattoo artist, but his shop is 2 hours away so I have to wait until i go that way again. So i was hoping someone on here might be able to help out. thanks.... i'm having a hard time figuring out what i want. He was really into fishing but i don't want a fish tattoo... there was a song in our church hym that he used to sing to me to get me to sleep when i was a baby though, maybe there is a way to incorpperate that. Shelly-- thanks but i'm not really into Kanji.... just a personal opinion but it's entirely too overdone and overrated. If i actualy spoke the language then it might be diffrent

  1. Get something that reminds you of him. For example when my aunt passed away I got a butterfly for her because she was very into nature. My grandmother passed away and since she was a huge fan of "The Phantom of the Opera" musical I'm thinking about getting the mask for her memory tattoo. Think of something that fits him, and if you'd like add the RIP. I'm sorry for your loss
  2. think of something that he loved or something that reminds you of him, im currently designing one that im getting on my hip in memory of my grandad, and he used to call me his butterfly child so ive designed a butterfly resting on top of a heart with a ribbon rapping round the heart with his name in it. hope ive helped and very sorry for your loss i know how it feels xxx
  3. What about the japanese word for grandfather??? you could put RIP under it or leave it plain. http://www.how-to-learn-japanese.com/japanese_word_for_grandfather.html
