Did anyone notice the first lady wearing white at the Pope's funeral?
I was told once that only royalty traditionally wore white at funerals. So does she think she is royalty, or what? Okay, I stand corrected, it was when he was layed out in state one of the days leading up to the funeral, I do not have a picture but I saw it on T.V. They were kneeling as the the crowds were walking past, they were the only people in that seat, together. He was all in black and she was all in white. I thought it was strange.

- And after Labor Day at that. Disgraceful.
- The Catholic Queens of Belgium and Spain, the Grand Duchess of Luxembourg, the Princesses of Savoia, and the Archduchesses of Habsburg have the privilege du blanc, which means they are allowed to wear white to the Vatican. The rest have to wear black when meeting the pope or attending funeral of the pope

- First lady of what, and which pope? The US First Lady Laura Bush wore black to JP2's funeral. Added: Here they are at the Pope lies in State, two days before the funeral. Black again. Are you sure that was what you saw? http://www.whitehouse.gov/president/gallery/photoessay/popefuneral/index.html
- I don't if it is customary or not for the first lady to wear white , black is usually worn at a funeral.
- White is the color of mourning in China. I'm sure that the deceased didn't care one way or the other. It's been some time since a Pope died so I assume you are a bit behind in your reading?
