How can Christians claim to support our troops when they hold protests at those same troops' funerals?

And don't pretend the Westboro cult doesn't speak for you. They just say what you don't want everyone else to know you think.

1. I vocally support homosexual marriage, and vote in support of it whenever the issue comes along. I have suffered insults from my fellow Christians because of this. How can you say I share beliefs with Fred Phelps? He would have me crucified
2. The Westboro cult doesn't speak for me because I don't even know what that is. I support our troops 100%. They are doing a service I could never do. I honor them for all their sacrifices. Freedom isn't FREE. What are people protesting at soldier's funerals?
3. I don't know any Christians who feel the same way as Westboro. A good portion of my family is ex-military (and Christian), and my brother served in OIF. I have a lot of problems with Christian dogma, and its followers, but this is ridiculous. Most Christians HATE the bad rap they give them.

Well you cannot lump every Christian group together, and despite that the Westboro group speaks for all Christians, so does every other Christian group. you cannot lump everyone together, just like one atheist is different from the next; or the fact that the Islamic terrorists claim to be the true voice of Islam, while the rest of the Muslim population believes that their way(s) speak for all of Islam.

6. If they don't walk in the love of God then they aren't true Christians. This Christian would be with the bikers, holding the big American flag and keeping those cruel people from being able to see the funeral of the brave.

9. Dude, I'm a believer in Jesus Christ and those people are about as christian as a baked idaho potato. They are religious fanatics and loony as can possibly be. They follow a pastor not Christ. For you to believe they speak for Christians is for me to pretend to speak for you without knowing you or anything about you. It's foolish to do so. I know deep in your heart you want to believe all christians are that way but you're sadly mistaken.
10. The Westboro bunch is the lunatic fringe. They demonstrated across the street from our church - so no, they don't speak for us - they speak against us (Catholics) . I wondered who you were referring to last week when you wrote me saying that Christians said "you should go to hell etc" Now I know. If THAT (Westboro) is your impression of Christians - you have a REALLY warped idea. Westboro is as representative of Christianity as cannibals represent daycare workers. Where'd you grow up in Dogpatch, Arkansas ?
