Rest In Peace

What do you think about that church that is protesting at the funerals of American servicemen and women?

As a US Marine I find it very offensive, They have signs that say "Thank God for dead soldiers". The father of one soldier sued them and the jury awarded him $10 million dollars. I think it's about time something is done about these crazy people. how about you?

Public Comments

  1. They are horrible human beings USMC 1989-1993
  2. i agree " If you dont stand behind our troops then by all means stand the hell infront of them."
  3. Yes they all need to go to Iraq. It was reported on military.com they plan to do more protest. There was suppose to be a bill to get them to have to stay some many feet away from a funeral. I know a few local bike clubs have stepped in to stop those morons. I find it just sick that they are doing this. I know if they showed up at a funeral I was attending we would have more funerals that day for them.
  4. THOU SHALL NOT KILL!
  5. This group is despicable. I don't think 10 million was enough for what these people do. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fred_Phelps
  6. Something should be done about these schmoes. Just where is a shot gun toting lunatic when you need one?
  7. they are terrible people, with no compassion. i hope they rot in hell
  8. The Pastor should be ran off and the town protest the church members.
  9. That is disgusting to torment a family grieving the loss of their loved one. If they do not pay the jury award as ordered by the court, then the friends and families of the deceased get to take it out of their @$$es.
  10. it's a shame to bad they can't follow what the bible preaches.
  11. I think twe as US people that are behind our men and women that is in the service. We need to put a stop to this. I know some vets. came here when those people were at fort campbell and ran them off it is sad if u dont agree with the war then vote!! But just because this is a woman/mans job then u are going to act a damn fool because u dont like it. They are saving our asses. I think Mr. Bush needs to do something about this. He sent our men and women over there then he needs to put a stop to this!!!!
  12. They may call themselves a "church", but there is definitely no christianity in them at all. The true christian has compassion, love and shows mercy. These people are religious zealots that advocate their hate and ignorance, but are exposed because they don't advocate christ, the true sign of a christian. They protest under the priviledges that are afforded them by the same soldiers that they wish to condemn with their ignorance. they are truly anti-christians, and can only be pitied and prayed for. They are nothing.
  13. If you want to stand shoulder to shoulder against those inbred hate filled nimrods, go to the following website and register. One does not have to be a biker OR a vet. You just need to be willing to stand for those who have stood for us. No membership fee, no dues and no meetings. You just need to be wiling to come when called...as you can. 14. You gotta love that First Amendment right, huh?! Personally, if they had showed up to any funerals that I was the NCOIC of, once Taps was played and I handed the flag over, it would be all over T.V: "Military Honor Guard has Fred Phelps and his 'religious' group of protesters at gun point while the family members of the fallen soldier beat the shit out of them...video at 11"
  15. The pastor is a registered democrat at that-NOT in any way saying democrats support this behavior but felt it was worthy of noting incase some clown tries to claim that its some evil republican thing
  16. I think they are giving Christians a bad name. They have a motorcycle group that travels around to act like bouncers or bodyguards to keep that bunch from causing problems at funerals of servicemen around here. Usually if the church hears the bikers are planning to attend, they don't show up. I'm glad the father of the soldier got the judgment. To think our boys (and girls) are over there risking their lives to make sure our freedoms are protected (even the freedoms to make stupid protests!) However, I think some ceremonies and areas should be "off limits" out of simple respect and decency. What would they think if military families started showing up at their church services and protesting them? My point is that it's not what they are saying. Everyone certainly has a right to his/her views. It's the manner and the location of the protest that is completely out of line!
  17. I think this very a shameful.10 million is to little. These soldiers payed the ultimate sacrifice for there country and should be treated with the highest respect.
  18. Those people are not Christians or Americans. They might have the right to their opinions, but so do I, and I think that each one of them should be dropped in Iraq and have to ask each one of our soldiers to forgive them.
  19. Those vile, disgusting "religious" perverts are, according to many constitutional lawyers, expressing their rights of free speech provided in the US Constitution. I was delighted to hear that they were being held accountable and had to pay millions of dollars. Unfortunately those same lawyers claim the verdict will be over thrown on 1st amendment rights. If there is any justice in our justice system, there must be a way of punishing the incredibly revolting behavior of these sick individuals. Possibly these Constitutional lawyers can offer alternative charges that don't tred on free speech and put these vermin in a safe dark hole where they belong. I remember coming home from tours of duty during Vietnam and radical college students chanting "Hey, hey, what do you say? How many babies have you killed today?" Those demented vermin from that "church" today are worse.
  20. It's their first amendment right. However, they should stay a about two hundred yards way from the cemetary/burial site and respect the family and try not to cause further heart break. They are protesting the wrong place, they should protest in front of the White House or Capital Building.
  21. I told my old man that if I do not come back and those nut bags are there that he promise me that he will run them down with a Baseball bat! He said no problem. I would not pee on them if they were on fire. I do not believe that is what our for fathers had in mind when they were writing up the free speech laws.
  22. Big time offensive, for god's sake man leave these people alone, they just want to mourn, not hear someone's twisted view of the bible. Views of idiots like Fred Phelps just give more ammo for Christian bashers, who tend to think we all are the same. Of course they're just going to throw the 1st Amendment thing at any govt. agency that tries to do anything. But then again would even the ACLU defend this bunch? Me personally I'd deal with the wrath of my wife for wasting a few dozen eggs on them as they tried to get off the bus.
  23. Their " church" (or cult is a better word for it) is called the westboro Baptist church which consists of the Phelps family mainly and it only about 100 members. They got sued recently by a father of a fallen soldier who's funeral they had been protesting. He won and will collect 10.9 million from them. Hopefully this lawsuit will create a chain reaction to stop these people from spreading their hate like a disease. Good riddance to sickos like them. God does not support hate mongers like the Phelps family
  24. They are insanity at the highest point. Nothing else needs to be said. Thanks for serving us Marine.
  25. I've always said that religious people are crazy and stupid. And I'm proven right once again.
  26. sacrilege
  27. I find these lunatics insulting and dangerous. They don't get the concept that these servicemen and women have died for the rights of these yohoos to say what they want. Ironic. Ungrateful rednecks.
  28. When one of our local boys was laid to rest, my fellow veteran buddies and I set up posts in the neighborhood. Luckily for them they didn't show up. Most of us had given our wives bail money up front, just in case. We were not about to let some deranged idiot, ruin a families time of healing. We were prepared to go to jail if need be.
  29. They are not a church...they are a cult....If I was a Baptist, I would sue to make them stop using the name. From what I hear the "church" is made up of family members. Perhaps, the family tree is a straight line.
  30. It's called Free Speech. One cannot stop that in the USA. You must live with it.
  31. I agree that they are incompotaent. Also there is a group of bikers who have been going to these funerals and keeping these morons away from the family.
  32. I think the dad who sued them did a good thing. I know we all have "freedom of speech", but damn, it was his son's FUNERAL. If they talk so much about God and religion, at least show some respect to a grieving family.
