Rest In Peace

Is there federal funding for funerals when a family can not afford it?

My brother committed suicide over the weekend. He had life insurance, unfortunately, they will not cover because this was a suicide. His wife can not afford the cost. Is there some kind of state/local/church funding that can maybe help us cover what we can't afford? We're trying to help financially the best we can however, it will not cover all of the cost.

  1. not generally. you may ask the cemetry if they know of anyplace that might help. i know my folks donated their plot to a local baptist church at the advice of the cemetry. you might also call your city advocacy center and see if they know of any place. I'm really sorry to hear about your brother, that's got to be a really tough time.

  3. I'm so sorry for your loss. Most funeral directors will set up a payment plan, also churches will sometimes help. reach out to your community. Donating to science is free and helps more people than you can imagine.
