How did Michael Jackson, Rest In Peace, change his skin color?

This is a serious question, whenever I ask someone, I hear all kinds of different answers, but I really wanna know, and please use some reliable source(s), Thank you!

1. He had a disease that made his skin lose it's pigment.
2. I don't have a source. But I do believe it began as some kind of skin disease.

4. michael supposidley had a skin condition that changed the pigmentation in his skin. this is a true condition, a friend of mine has it. it causes white patches all over the body and scalp. whether this was the sole reason for his skin turning white is unknown to me.
5. It was a disease that may have been complicated or caused by Lupus.
6. He claims it was changed by an incredibly rare disease, but I know a couple of doctors who are highly doubtful about that (he does not seem to exhibit other symptoms of that disease). People refer to this process as "bleaching" the skin, though bleach is not used (it can be used, though is a bit harsh, to do something similar to one's hair). Essentially, there are chemicals that will break down the pigment in the skin. They aren't cheap, but he had money at one time.

He claimed to have suffered from vitiligo a skin disease in which u begin to lose pigmentation of the skin... i always found this hard to believe since sufferers dont usually turn totally white..they have really bad patches like this: http://www.library.nhs.uk/cmsimages/23_7D5112102D_Maxines_arms%201.jpg michael just looked perfectly white..so thts what makes me think he had some sort of plastic sugery.
8. he suffered a skin disorder called vitiligo which causes skin de-pigmentation. People think he bleached but he didn't. Rather than that, he suffered more disorder. I'm really saddened by his childhood. He was beaten by his father at a young age. His childhood wasn't what i call a CHILDHOOD. He didn't have time to play, to meet friends, and just to lay back as a child. It's very sad.

The population incidence worldwide is considered to be between 1% and 2%[citation needed]. Non-segmental vitiligo has a greater prevalence than the disorder's other form(s).
