Funeral notice OK to claim Greyhound bereavement leave discount?

I need to travel from Ontario to NovaScotia for a funeral. Does Greyhound accept a funeral notice when claiming the 20% off discount? Or do they absolutely need the copy of the death certificate? I've tried calling, and they just give me the run-around. Some say they orffer the discount others say no. And of course, nothing is available on their website. FYI it's my husband's sister VIA Rail accepts funeral notices from the paper...

  1. Why don't you just call and ask them? That would be the only way to get a reliable answer. Their website does not address funeral discounts.
  2. You need a certificate. The discount is intended for close relatives, not just someone going to a funeral (not saying that's your case), so it's not as easy as providing a notice from a newspaper (as anyone would use that). Sorry for your loss.
  3. You need to provide a copy of the death certificate.
